“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate in the Word of God day and night that thou may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)

I like the Ronald Knox translation here, this book of the law shall be a governor on your tongue. A governor can be a device to keep a motor from running to fast or a head of state that keeps everything working well. I say it this way, Gods word; the bible will keep your mouth from running away with you. A mouth and heart filled with the word, will get you where you need to be and a successful Spirit filled life will be “your lot in life”.

What do you do when things don’t match up and the word of the lord is different than the way things are? Abraham was confronted with just that; things were not seemingly right. There was no child in sight not even a little bump on Sarah’s tummy to encourage him. Romans 4:18 gives some insight, who against hope believed in hope. When there was no reason to hope in the natural realm, he believed in Gods ability to fulfill the promise made to him. He did not consider his body or his wife Sarah’s body, their age and time of life. He had to fasten his faith upon God’s power to go beyond impossibility and call into being that which does not exist.

I believe doing as He did – we shall be treated as He was, God made the promise, and Abraham believed in spite of all the obstacles. Abraham learned to feed his hope with the promise of God and faith rose up to take hold of the promise. Faith after all is said and done, is the substance of that for which you have hoped. (Heb 11:1)  So in these troubled times dear ones look to the promise of God it will take you to a higher level, hope will once again rise up in you, fear will dissipate and you will cause your way to be successful.

Jesus did not come to patch up, to fix up, duct tape or rejuvenate the old nature. That could never have been so, there was never any hope for the old man, old woman or the old child, as they were infected with the same venom of the serpent that Adam and Eve had passed on to the entire human race in his infamous fall.

On the cross, God’s plan was to terminate the old creation, to annihilate it; He took it to the grave, destroying the body of sin and put an end to the old self life. Then brought us out, charged with that same resurrection power that Jesus walked in. The church is born again and a new principle, eternal life became effective blotting out our sins, through faith in Christ Our participation in the death of Jesus for the removal, not of our sins, but for the removal of sin as a dictating force in our lives. The old life and its infatuation with itself is removed. Our new life becomes effective by the exercise of faith. The re-creative forces of the cross and its redemptive power has set our lives on a new course.

Will we be run over and dominated by self, the flesh, and carnality?  Which will you choose? We choose to rise out of the grave, to live in the power of Christ’s resurrection, complete, in Christ. As Christians, It becomes our desire that we, walk worthy of our calling, no longer observers, we are participants in His resurrection life.(Eph 4:1)

A radical revolution in attitudes, thinking and relationships all will become new as we yield to the Master. Christ Jesus comes to possess His inheritance, the church. Thus we begin to see the hope of His calling and possess the riches of the Glory of His inheritance in the saints, to know the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe according to the working of His own mighty power. (Eph 1:18-19)  Believe it or not, that same power is available to those who choose to believe today.

“A VOICE WAS HEARD IN HEAVEN, THE ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN IS CAST DOWN”. The next verse explains how these saints overcame. First, their robes were washed in the blood of the Lamb and made white.  Second, they held to the Word of God and stuck to their testimony of Jesus. (Rev. 12:10-11)

They were committed to the blood of Jesus, the Word of God, and their testimony.  We too must be committed to the blood of Jesus Christ, we are washed, cleansed and made righteous by his blood. Our commitment to the Word of God brings the power of God into play, to regenerate and empower believers today. By His Word we are purified and made whole. Our lives, like theirs must be His, not ours. Therein lies the formula for casting down that old liar, satan, and bring about an overcoming lifestyle.

“Some people have simply stopped expecting.  They have accumulated enough of life’s disappointments to become afraid to dream, to reach, to stretch, to broaden their horizons.” Jack Hayford

I would not suggest that these folks are pouters who whine their way through life. They have just stopped expecting to receive from God. It is hard to possess the promised-land while chained to the past, when every move we make is because of something that happened in our past.

Joshua said before all Israel, today we lay aside the fear of failure, forgetting those things which are behind we press toward the high call (Philippians 3:13-14) “Today we cross over into this promised land.” The people had to forget the past forty years to tread on new territory.  Whatever it is that stifles your growth and ability to dream, reach out, be stretched and allow the stretching process to do its work. Lay those things aside that hold you back, cast all your disappointments on Jesus, and learn to dream again. That is the Holy Spirit’s trademark for this Generation.

This Easter Season brings us back to the crucifixion and to our great sustainer, helper, caretaker and keeper. Remember that while you are identified with Jesus on His Cross, He is identified with you today in bearing His cross. The cross of Christ has given us redemption; His cross was the defeat of satan and his kingdom. In the book of Hebrews it is said of Jesus that He partook of our flesh and blood, our very nature and in sharing in our humanity He took death, defeated it and all the power of the devil. (Hebrews 2:14) Jesus disarmed every principality and power, He made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:14-15)

I am always reminded at this time of the year, the problems that seem to weigh us down and impede our progress, if brought boldly to the cross, we will find the same victory that Jesus experienced at the cross, satan is exposed, laid bare and defeated.

You will not find Him on the cross today.  He need not die again and again, Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. (Hebrews 9:28) He is risen and seated at the right hand of our Father. The cross has become a place of victory and it may be just the place you and I need to go back to, a reminder that Jesus took that cross and turned it into a weapon of defeat and totally conquered the whole host of hell. Jesus defeated satan and now we are sharers together in His victory.
